Welcome with warm greetings to the Department of Physics, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). This department is imparting theoretical and practical courses for undergraduate students in various Engineering/ Architecture disciplines to develop scientific skills with technological applications. The Department of Physics is committed to provide outcome-based quality educations taking the role of future engineers and architects. The department has also degree-awarding programs for M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Physics, where more than twenty (20) courses are offered each year for mainly three fields of research: (i) Solid State Physics, (ii) Biophysics, Medical Physics and Health Physics, and (iii) Atmospheric Physics. In addition, endeavors are going on to start four years honour’s program in Physics soon. Hopefully, this effort will strengthen the contributing capability of BUET towards the nation and the world on science and technology. It gives me pride and pleasure to have a good number of sincere and enthusiastic faculty members with Ph.D. degrees in diverse research backgrounds from renowned universities over the world. Over a period of four decades, this department has a proven record of awarding M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees, publishing research papers in prestigious international journals, achieving research grants/scholarship from research sponsor organizations and having research collaborations with national as well as international organizations/universities.
